The Miyawaki Oceanariums have turned one year old!
Today marks one year. On April 22, 2024, we planted the Miyawaki mini-forest on Óceánárok Street. The planting was carried out in collaboration with the One Tree Planted international tree planting organization and Főkert.
We will not forget that András Zakar, the then director of Főkert, moved even the heaviest stones out of the way of the saplings; without him, there would likely be one less Miyawaki mini-forest in Budapest today.

It is a joy to see how the plants have already burst forth; based on our experience, by the third year, the saplings will have developed into an almost impenetrable jungle.
After one year of the Miyawaki mini-forest, on April 22, 2025:
The little trees have shown incredible growth even in just one year, thanks to the soil replacement done before planting and the selection of mutually supportive tree species and plants.

In this spirit, during the recent long weekend, we weeded and tended to our previously planted Miyawaki mini-forests at eight locations, as we have been very fortunate in recent weeks:
rain, fog, humidity, and moisture – all of this has provided an excellent start for the saplings.
We could say that spring has kicked off, along with the plants that are competing with our planted trees.
We wanted to give the Miyawaki mini-forests an advantage, so this weekend we thoroughly weeded the little forests!
