32 park trees planted in Ferencváros!

On November 8, undeterred by the morning rain, we planted in Budapest, in the IX district.

November 8, undaunted by the morning rain, we planted 32 trees in Budapest’s IX district.

With the rain pouring down, of course, you need some willpower to start planting, because everything is harder when it’s pouring down:

the soil, the spade, and maybe a little bit of spirit.

For trees in a new location, however, the soaked soil and moist air is the best place to start!

Plant and live! – but how do we do it?

In tree planting in Ferencváros, adopters not only participate in the planting, but also, in cooperation with the local municipality, undertake to care for the planted trees for three years:

regularly watering them during summer heat waves, mulching them in autumn and, if necessary, replacing damaged supports.

What is the experience of volunteer tree planting? Let’s hear from the participants!

Planting MONDAYS…

Akos, main organiser:

“I was a bit discouraged after the rain this morning. But by the start it had stopped! After that it was up to us to plant. 🙂 It was great that so many volunteers came to help! 🙂 “

Sarolta, adopter:

“I really enjoyed it 🙂 It felt really good to plant a tree. And we are infinitely grateful for all the help!”

Alice:

“It made a tremendous difference to dig yesterday’s student volunteers! And with that and all the help today, the planting was super-fast! And this is the 3rd season for me! And my 7th adopted tree! Thank you all for your help! 🤗🤗🤗”

Orsolya:

“Well, the biggest lesson for us is that the most important tool for planting trees in the city centre is the pickaxe! 😆 – but it was a great experience. I hope the trees will grow and become a nice tree line next to the playground!”

FUTURE PLANTING

We will definitely not need a hoe at our next planting!

We will return to the Wolf Forest in District IV and plant native forest seedlings – hopefully together with you!
